Jordanian Jerusalem:

Six Day War- soviets “informs” Syria of impending Israeli attack (May 13)- tip off Syria that there is going to be an attack-north east of Palestine.- they surround Israel with Jordan and Egypt.
Egypt amasses troops in Sinai- southwest of Israel
Jordan signs military agreement with Egypt (May 30)
Israeli forces launch pre-emptive strike and reduce Egyptian air force within hours (June 5)
Israeli forces enter the old city June 7- rabbi zvi yehuda kook announces at the wall: “we shall never again move out of here”- wipe out Egyptian airforce and take control of sinia penisela
Moshe daya, (Israeli General) gives control of Haram to muslims- June 17th: jews forbidden to pray on Haram-temple mount
Israeli Knesset formally annexes Old City and east Jerusalem june 28- not interested in taking the holy sites just political area of the city. East belongs to Jordanians- fought and took it.
United nations rejects annexation of Jerusalem- Israelis don’t care and take the whole city
In the process of defending against 4 nations: the Israelis didn’t lose land they took land. Took some of Syria and the Sinai peninsela took the Golan heights- mt hermon- tallest mountain of the area and of the surrounding region.

Intifada- Palestinian uprising begins in 1987 and declare independence in 1988.
1988-1992 First Intifada: Oslo Accords, 1993

2000 present second al aqsa intifada: provoked by ariel sharon’s visit to the al aqsa mosque.

Officially signed at a public ceremony in Washington, DC on Sept 13, 1993.
Up until this point the PLO did not recognize them as a state

2nd intifada:
Late 90s
Tunnel discovered- went under the temple mount. Provoked by Ariel Sharon- going on top of the temple mount. Israelis have won every one of these armed conflicts.

21st century Jerusalem:
-peace with Egypt and with Jordan and work together against terrorist. Syria and Lebanon do not have peace with Israel.
2000- Israel withdrawls from southern Lebanon
2000 sept- 28 second al aqsa intifada
2001 sept 11 attach results in invasion of Afghanistan Oct 201 and Iraq March 2003
2002- Israel begins construction of West Bank Barrier. Declare own states for both.
